I always knew the written word was my destiny.
Even when I was a devoted theater kid hell-bent on acting and dancing my way through life, I knew. I was a storyteller at heart. I needed to build my own world with words.
Being a compulsive wordsmith has taken me into all kinds of fortuitous directions that I could not have anticipated. Like studying playwriting at NYU. Or going to Italy because I fell madly in love with the poetry of a sixteenth century courtesan. Or advertising! Words, whether you consider yourself an avid reader/consumer of information or not, can and will change your life. That’s some witchy, powerful stuff.
It would be impossible for me to include all the cool, interesting, exciting things I’ve done over the years here so consider the little case studies a “greatest hits” exercise.
I’m originally from Louisiana, and had the good fortune of moving back and living in New Orleans for a few years. I give the original LA credit for my love of all things dark, esoteric, and absinthe-flavored. When I’m not working, I enjoy traveling, working out (thanks, pandemic), reading (while accompanied by my two cats), and giving the occasional ghost tour.
Tap into your latent pyschic abilities and send me a brain wave. Or do one of these things.
You can drop me a line at lauraleighwasson@gmail.com
You can check out my very long CV on LinkedIn. Or if you’re pressed for time, take a look-see at some clients past and present: Netflix, Everly, JobsOhio, Champ, Vita Coco, Harmless Harvest, KIND, Rockport, Waze, Diageo (Innovation), Pernod Ricard (The Glenlivet, Absolut Elyx), Branca USA, Root Insurance, Verizon, Speciality Food Association, and Zarbee’s Naturals.
You can read this thing I wrote for Ad Age, this thing I wrote for Adweek, or watch this video of me on the local news talking about billboards.
The one thing you can’t do is follow me. While I keep abreast of social media trends and best practices, I choose not to personally engage with it. (But I do have a finsta. Naturally.)
